I am so glad we did because we have been up there every weekend we didn't have something else planned. It is nice to be able to go up there and relax away from the hustle and bustle of our week day lives.
This weekend was particularly amusing. We were unloading our 4wheelers out of the toy hauler and this guy comes walking over. This guy is about 6 Foot with no hair and has an officers badge on his belt prominently showing. "I guess you know the rules here" Of course we do. "Then you know that you can't unload those in the campground." Well, you are wrong there. We have a toy hauler and it says in the bylaws that we can unload and load in the campground if we have a toy hauler. "You are wrong. I am going to call Carol and have her come over here." Go ahead. Before we bought the membership we asked alot of questions and this was one of them. "Well there's a new sheriff in town." (Honest he said this) Casey said, "Let me guess you are it." "Yup, and there have been a lot of illegal activity going on around here and I am going to be patrolling this area." Well, you and your badge don't scare me. Security came over at this point and told us that we did nothing wrong. Also, that this guy was not hired as new security and that he was just another member like us. Barney Fife, as we nicknamed him, came over and apologized after this.
The rest of the weekend you would see Barney Fife head to toe in camo with 4 pairs of handcuffs on this belt, a bulletproof vest, and a firearm strapped to his leg. We also found out he is a Game and Fish cop for Idaho. This will be a fun memory we will have for a long time.

Today's laugh

Overhead at Atlantis burger. Today Grandpa Marble passed away. Grandpa was one of the hardest workers I have ever known. For the last few years he has had to slow down because he had Parkinson's disease. As sad as it is, I am glad that he is no longer in pain.
I will always remember the buttercup song that he made up for me. Easter will always be remembered for rolling eggs down the hill above dad's house. Every time I see a sod truck, I will smile thinking about the deliveries I went on with him when I was young. A blown kiss will be added when we go passed the cemetery. I will always be able to see his handiwork when we go passed the park he built.
He willed be missed but his legacy will live on.

Rest in peace, Boondawg

Today has been a sad day for us dogs in the White household. There are so many rules up there that Casey has used that as an excuse not to get one. About a month ago, I went to lunch with my sister in law and I mentioned that I wish I could talk Casey into getting one. It has been a couple of years since we have rode our four wheelers out on a trail and they have trails we could ride. A couple of days later I was talking to Casey and mentioned I wished he would change his mind about it. It would not cost us anything to camp. It is just as far as Willard, which we have camped at a couple times in the last couple years. EC has everything and more that Willard has. Casey used to go to Strawberry with his parents every weekend while growing up. You can bet that I even used this as an argument. I also used the " think of all the memories we will be making with the boys.". Can you believe it? I finally talked him into it and he is as excited about it as I am. Thank you honey for letting me talk you into it. I love you More.

Feel good moment for today

WAlking out of Wal-Mart today, I overheard Jordan say, "Dad did you see that guy check Daph out?". It never ceases to amaze home and Jordan how many answers I get right. They always shake their heads in amazement when that happens. A couple of weeks ago we caught the final Jeopardy answer and I answered Jackson Pollock on a whim. Don't you know I for it right.
I keep telling Casey that if I got on the show I would probably embarrass myself. Then I thought, there isn't anything interesting about me. We have been busy with Zach and Braxton playing Soccer. Now get to add Jr Jazz to Braxton's schedule
This weekend we have had quite a few funny comments from the kids. Yesterday, one of Braxton's soccer buddies, Jaron, spend the afternoon with us. They were talking about this gray haired old person at the Hockey game the night before. I guess that means I am old. I would probably be 80% or more gray if I did not dye my hair.
Then this morning we were at Casey's parents to visit. And we were talking about a couple that were dating one was 19 and the other person was late twenties. Zach said, "That is gross." I replied, "You can't help who you fall in love with. There is 7 years between your dad and me." To which Braxton said, "You are older than dad?"
I do love the laughter that the kids bring to Casey and my life.

Springtime/Summertime

A couple of weeks ago, I finally got the hummingbird feeders out. It was a nice day to enjoy each others company on the deck. We did miss Nate and Krystal and their families. Right before we started the main dish, we had a plumbing issue. I am so glad I have a husband that is handy with house repairs. Once that was fixed, we got busy making dutch oven sloppy joes. We had perfect timing because everyone showed up just as it was getting done cooking. After eating, Braxton and Eric's girls were racing from the deck to the back of the yard and back. It was fun watching them.

CF walk

In May, we had the opportunity to do the CF walk for Jordan. The goal for our team was to raise $1,000. We missed the mark but were happy that we made $900. There were about 15 of us that were walking for Jordan. This was the first year we have participated. It was amazing to see how many people were there. One "team" even raised $23,000. We started walking from the MTC park in Ogden and went along the Ogden River Parkway. It was a pretty walk in the trees. We even got to see part of the Dinosaur park. My sister in law and I both wish we lived closer so we could walk it more often.
On our walk, Casey saw the weirdest shoes. There was a girl that had shoes that had individual spaces for each of her toes. She claims that they are really comfortable. I had seen toe socks but never shoes. Very interesting. This was a very worthwhile event that I am sure we will be doing again next year.

Real Salt Lake game

Last night we had to opportunity to go with Braxton's soccer team to the Real Salt Lake game. We were asked to drive some the players so we took 4 of the boys. When you get these guys together away from soccer it is fun to hear the things that they talk about. One of the subjects last night was the type of music everyone liked. One of the kids must have mentioned Rap because all of the sudden I hear, "Rap is just a bunch of African American men with saggy drawers talking about ...." That is all I heard. I leaned over to Casey and asked, "Does that mean Eminem is an African American?" I learn so much new information from these kids, lol.
I will post some pictures later today of our fun adventure.

Karma

I am sitting at the computer today just laughing how life can come and bite you in the butt at times. Years ago, I made a really rude comment to someone I loved. They would have me playing farm on the living room floor. I could never do this task to this person's satisfaction. I have regretted this comment for a very long time even longer than this person has been back in my life. This person now has me playing Farmville on Facebook. At least this time around, I can't be criticized for running my farm incorrectly.

Life Lesson Continued

I was working this morning to get billing out and realized why I was so uptight about Jordan moving in with us. It hit me like a freight train. I was afraid that I would be ignored and my marriage would end up like my first one.
Let me back up a little bit. When I was married the first time, Jim's cousin would come over every night, maybe not every night but it seemed like it. Jim and Robert would sit and talk about farming all night long. Wasn't it enough that they farmed all day? So I eventually got to the point that I just tuned them out. I would hear things once in a while. Mostly in the most inopportune times, just in time for them to insult me to see if I was paying attention. No wonder I had no self esteem once it was all over.
We are just finishing up week 2 and it has not been too bad. I must admit in the first week I had my moments of resenting having an extra person around all the time. This week has been a lot better. And tomorrow is date night. Taggart here we come! We will see what week 3 brings, especially since Casey will be in Idaho fishing.
Isn't it great that we can learn from our past and can make the necessary changes? It may have taken me 15 years to learn this lesson but it sure was worth it.

Life lesson

The last couple of days have put into perspective a few things that have happened in my past. Jordan has decided to come live with us. On Sunday when he mentioned it, I was panicking quite a bit. I have had 5 years for it just being Casey and me. The kids only being around here and there. Now my life is going to change quite a bit. Being the selfish brat that I can be, I told Casey that I was not going to be a 21 year olds maid. And also that he could not do everything with us. We needed to have our alone time as well. This scares me that things will change between Casey and me. However, it could be a good thing as well.
Holly, the kids mother, called Casey on Monday crying about this new development. This gave me an understanding of how it must have hurt my mother as one by one each of my siblings decided to live with our father at some point in our lives. My heart goes out to Holly. This has got to be pulling her apart right now. Especially with us not knowing how much longer we will have Jordan around.
On the flip side, it gave me some understanding as to what it must have been like for my Step Mother. When Krystal and I went to live with our father, Bet was almost done raising her 3 kids and now she was having to raise 5 more kids. This has given me a whole lot of understanding why she handled things the way she did.
I hope that I can handle this new challenge without too much craziness.

St George friendlies

This last weekend we had the opportunity to go down to St George for a couple of soccer games for Braxton. These are always fun as we get to see a side of the boys that we don't see playing closer at home all the time. On Friday, we left here about noon, if I had left it up to Casey we would have left at 10. On the way down, we stopped in Beaver to get cheese curds. YUMMY!!! While we were driving, Braxton was watching a Tommy Boy and every once in a while we could hear him snicker at something he found funny. This made me smile since Nate and I rented that movie so many times one summer.
We had a game that night so we went to dinner with a few people after the game. During this time, the 3 11 year old boys were discussing what movies that thought were funny. All of the sudden we hear Seth say, Have you seen Pride and Prejudice? Of course, Hugh and Braxton had not since in their homes the majority is male. They asked Seth what type of movie it was and he told them "It is a chick flick."
The next topic was on one of the games the next day that they were playing against 13 year girls. Braxton was not liking this and said, "Girls have Rabies." Who knew? All this time I thought boys thought girls had Coodies.
On the way back to our condo from one of the games, we went by this house that had the best Redneck 4 Wheelers of all time. They had made a second seat on the back by taking the legs of a microfiber chair and strapped it to the rack on the back. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera at that time and everytime we went by it again it was not there. :(
In between games on Saturday, we had 4 hours to kill. So we found a park that had a playground and a couple of basketball hoops. So the boys came up with a new game. There was a bridge in the middle of the playground that had a net with big holes in it. So some of the 13 boys would stand on the bridge and some of the boys would try to kick the soccer ball in through the holes and hit each other. They had so much fun and it was a wonderful team activity.
Their last game was against the girls. And the rabies issue was quickly worked out. I even saw a few of the boys talking to the girls from the other team.
I am so thankful that we are able to have these type of experiences with Braxton. These are wonderful memories I am sure all 3 of us will have forever.

Life is wonderful

I know it has been a while since I updated my blog. There is no excuse for it. I love the Christmas season and this year did not disappoint. Casey bought me a new pre lit tree. I am sure he was tired of watching me string the lights just right on the tree each year which usually took me about an hour. We got to spend a little time with each of our families. We even were lucky enough to have all 5 of us Marble kids together at one time with all of our kids.
We broke from tradition for New Years Eve and went to Casey's neice's house. The last couple of years it has been at our house. We had fun eating and playing various games on the WII. Then came home to watch The Saint until 2009 was behind us.
I know we have heard all the doom and gloom about the year 2009. But I can honestly say that 2009 was not too hard on the White family. We were able to go camping 3 or 4 times during the summer. We were able to afford to re roof the garage and house. We also were able to afford to replace a dead dishwasher and dying fridge. All without having to curtail our many interests. We are truly blessed.
2010 has started to be an eventful year so far. Right off the bat, we repainted the living room and moved all the furniture around along with re running cables. We had our family dinner with my family. It is always fun to get all of us together, the whole Marble-Wilson clan. We do miss the 2 that live out of state though. We learned a new game that did not take too long even with about 15 of us playing. Thanks Ashley for introducing the game to the family, my kids even loved playing it. And I am sure they will be talking about it for a long time.
This is the year we start looking for a car. So we attended the Auto Expo with the boys. The boys loved the Camaro's, Corvettes, Bentley's and Ferrari's. Casey and I even picked out a car we would love to buy. Too bad we have to wait 2 years before that can happen. At least that gives us something to look forward to.
We have even had our first scare of the year. Last night we were sleeping and I heard the beeps telling me one of the doors had been opened. I have thought I heard this before in my sleep but had not. This time was different, though, Boo was barking. Casey told him to shut up and then went back to sleep. So this morning I told him that I had heard the door beep and that Boo was barking at that sound. So I go to check the back door. It is half way open. For those who don't know, we live in a house that was built in the 1950s and the floors creak. So while we were in bed, I thought, if the motion light is not on outside our window and the floors don't creak then no one is in the house and maybe I just heard things. So I tell Casey as he is getting dressed that the back door is open. He proceeds to do the manly thing and check the downstairs. He turns on the first bedrooms light and Billy Bass starts to sing. That scared Casey a bit. Good thing nothing was gone and no one was in the house. I guess the wind just blew it open since one of the boys did not shut it tight when they left.
I am so fortunate to have a husband that can be the protector of our home. I don't know what I would have done today if he hadn't checked the downstairs this morning before going to work. Though this turned into a funny footnote in our life, it could have been a terrible chapter in our lives.
Here's to a wonderful 2010.

Giving Thanks

I am thankful for the decisions I have made in my life that have gotten me to today. It could not have been a better game to go to. There were about 9,000 other fans there to enjoy it with us. We have not seen the ECenter that full for a long time for a hockey game. We had tickets on the ice right behind the net on the end that we attack twice. There was one fight 30 seconds into the game. Our favorite player had to be Stephenson from the Wranglers team. He had curly golden locks and we nicknamed him Stephanie. Then there was the man who brought his 1 year old son down by us. We had an extra seat so we told him he could use it. He was explaining the game to him as if he could understand. It was pretty cute. There was blood on the ice. Just from a broken nose of the goalie after he took a puck to the face. And a penalty shot. A wonderful way to start the weekend.

A week alone at home

This past week Casey and his hunting buddies have been doing their thing down in Monroe. This week has been busy for me with spending time with new and old friends and family. The first day Casey was gone, I was able to meet a dear new friend for lunch and had a wonderful talk. That night and the next day I was able to spend time with another dear friend and her 2 kids. Thank you, Karyn, for keeping me busy those 2 days. I went to see the movie, UP, and really enjoyed it. Thank goodness Casey and the boys were not there, they would have made fun of me crying in 2 places. I must have a little emotional that weekend because I saw Confessions of a Shopoholic with a couple of other friends and I cried in that one as well. What a boob, I know.
Braxton had 2 soccer games this week. The first one was against our rival LaRoca. Unfortuately, we lost to them 4 to 2. I took Braxton to Cutler's afterwards. Wednesday, we had a game against Impact Black. This game Braxton came to play and scored 2 goals. We won 8 to 0 and Braxton got the game ball. After the game, I had a wonderful dinner with Leslie and Karyn for Date night. While at dinner, I got a call from my best friend from High School, Lisa. She was in town for a conference and they were done about noon the next day.
So Thursday, I met Lisa and Tiffany at Gateway. After a little window browsing, we decided to go to a bigger mall to go shopping. We stopped by my house, and the car would not start. The battery has been slowly dying for a couple of months. We just have not bought a new one. My wonderful Father in Law came down and put the charger back on the car and allowed us to use his vehicle for the night. After a wonderful time shopping, we went to Olive Garden for dinner. Thank you Lisa and Tiffany for letting me talk your ears off.
Everytime that Casey goes hunting, I always have one thing I would like to get
down in the house, usually painting a room. This years goal was clean up the downstairs so we can make a major DI run. So this morning I tackled the storage room. I can't believe the junk that we have collecting. I even found a box of smashed cans, who keeps those things? I found a binder full of letters between my family and I from the late 90s. I got a little side tracked reading some of those. It was nice to read what was happening in our lives since I can't remember a lot about my past.
Tonight, the wives are going to dinner and a movie. A good way to end 10 days of widowdom. An Elk was shot this morning, so hopefully the men will be coming home tomorrow. As much as I was excited to have the last 10 days alone, I am ready for Casey to be back. I also must admit, this should be our weekend to have the boys and I am missing them as well.

Surprise in the sand box

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 151px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/SqxMQ2LMxWI/AAAAAAAAAO8/2v6sumSOSeQ/s200/White+%26+black+kittens.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380759507105006946" />

About a week ago, the dogs kept going to the sand box and just barking away. I thought nothing of it and just let them be dogs. The next day, I decided to investigate what they were barking at. We found 3 little kittens. We have neighbors that have quite a few wild cats that they feed. About once a year, one of them uses our shed to have her kittens. We found 2 black and one whitish kitten between the shed and the fence. We tried to feed them some milk but they acted like they did not know how to eat yet. They were so cute.

Aida Tuacahn

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/SqxICoiLL2I/AAAAAAAAAO0/zn7lNISeCq8/s200/Tuacahn+entrance.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380754864878595938" />

In June, Casey and I found out that Aida was going to be at Tuacahn. Of the plays we have gone to at Hale Center, this has been one of Casey's favorites. The best weekend for us to go was the last of August. Neither of us had ever seen a play at Tuacahn, so we did not know what to expect.
The day before we left to go down, Dad and Bet decided to join us. Casey and I left Friday afternoon. It was nice to get away just the two of us. Saturday morning we woke up and decided to see if we could find Tuacahn. What a pretty landscape. Also, we both can not believe how much St George has changed. Tuacahn is an outdoor stage that is surrounded on 3 sides by mountains. We met up with Dad and Bet in the afternoon and had a nice talk.
We got tickets early enough that our tickets were front row middle. Once the play got started and some of the props moved and they used the whole mountain as the stage. It even had a pyramid. Just before intermission, you could here tons of water moving. It came down the mountain and onto the stage. We got a little wet since the actors were splashing around in it. The water came ran down the mountain again towards the end of the play as well.
Tuacahn is awesome and we would suggest it to anyone.

Ever expanding family

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/SqxE05oTMTI/AAAAAAAAAOU/yy6-2FZntHY/s200/Ivy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380751330414637362" />

Within a week between July and August, 2 of my sister in laws had 3 babies. First was Katie who had Ivy Jill. Casey and I can not believe how much hair she has. We spent a nice saturday with Katie and Nate and their girls a couple of weeks ago. After playing catch with a couple of toys, Sophie and Ellie wanted to sing Mamma Mia songs. This was perfect as Casey loves this play and the music for it.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/SqxFdrg7viI/AAAAAAAAAOc/HmnPnMy2-7o/s200/Girls+singing+abba.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380752031000280610" />

Prior to going to Nate's, we went to see the twins that were born a couple of days after Ivy. So the next couple of posts are to catch up. We had some much fun the first time we went to Willard in July, we decided to go back a couple of weeks later. This time we had our friends come up and spend the day with us. The three boys, Casey and I left for Willard after work on Friday. Once we got set up, we went to find a couple of geocaches. This was a nice walk that allowed us to see what the camp spots in the Willow side. The kids always love trying to find these. We definitely need to do more of that.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/SqxAZvX45II/AAAAAAAAAOE/ENqchekpmfo/s200/1st+night.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380746465758471298" />

This second spot was a lot better because it was larger and had more shade. Saturday we headed to Pelican Beach as soon as we got up. We set up the shade tent and proceeded to pass the football around. The dogs even were able to play fetch. About lunchtime, Jordan and I went back to the trailer to get stuff for lunch. Once we were back, Bun and Karyn showed up. Another round of football passes was started up. Once we were pretty tired of that, Jason and Leslie showed up with their family. It was time to for another round of football.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/SqxCTTrwqwI/AAAAAAAAAOM/p828jTCkyAY/s200/Fottball++9.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380748554269666050" />

Once the kids were tired of football. Zach, Collin and Chelsie decided to swim to the bouys. They were 3/4 of the ways there and Zach yelled back asked if they could swim the rest of the way. I told him he could since they were pretty close. I am glad they are all young bucks. They did not get tired swimming back.
Dinner was the next thing on the agenda. Then sitting around the fire for some nice conversation. At one point, Braxton and I left because we had found a geocache trail. After finding about 4 or 5 spots, we decided that we had been away long enough. It was nice having one on one time with Braxton.

I love the local police!!!

I know a strange heading but something just happened that makes me appreciate them even more. Over my lunch hour, I decided to go to the grocery store since the kids are coming over this weekend. Once I got home, I put my purse on the floor under the table and brought in the rest of the groceries. I put the groceries away and sat down to work. I looked over and saw that the phone said that it had no line out. I thought nothing of it. All the sudden the phone rings and I didn't recognize the phone number but can tell it is local. So I answered it. We usually don't answer the phone if we don't recognize the phone number. Someone asked to talk to Casey. He wasn't here can I take a message. The man asked me is everything okay in the house. I thought that this was a little strange, I told him yes. Well, it was the local police and could I come talk to them outside. Once outside, the cop told me that the personal alarm had been sounded and was I sure everything was alright. I told him what was going on and figured the dogs must have hit the key pad on my purse somehow. Can you imagine what would have happened if I had not answered the phone?
This is not the first time a North Salt Lake policeman has come to our rescue. A couple of weeks ago, we had to move the bench out of the kitchen to make room for the new fridge. Casey was outside chopping up the corner piece. Boo is scared of loud noises and he ran off. Casey flagged down one of the policeman and they went looking for Boo. He was just around the corner but Casey had already been up that street and did not see him.
And years ago before I knew Casey, he had to call them because he had an intruder at gun point. I am so grateful we live a couple blocks from the Police Department for them to be there to assist us quickly in times of peril. Thank you!!!

Last minute camping trip

Last weekend we were invited to a friends property that is right on Bear Lake. After all of our camping friends decided not to go except Dave. We decided to not go as well. So Wednesday night Casey asked me to look to see if there were any spots available at Willard Bay. There happened to be a few spots and one even big enough for us to pull our trailer down. Little did I know how much fun would be had by kids and dogs.
Friday, Braxton and I spent all morning shopping and getting the trailer ready. Then we picked up Collin and Zach from the movie theater. Once Casey came home from work we headed right to Willard. This drive took just over an hour even in rush hour traffic. As soon as we found our camping spot, we decided me needed to hit the water since the truck said the outside temperature was 102 degrees. So we all headed to Eagle Beach. The boys got in the water and I threw sticks for the dogs to go get. I got plenty wet with the dogs shaking off every time they came back. Once it was getting dark, we decided to try fishing over by the dock. This was highly unsuccessful but we did watch a woman reel in a nice sized channel cat.
Saturday morning Braxton, Casey, me and the dogs went for a walk and found a nice hidden little area that someone could sit all day by the water. Too bad someone was already there. Once we got back we had to wake up Collin and Zach so we could go to Pelican Beach. Little did we know but you are not supposed to have dogs at Eagle Beach. Once they were up, we all hopped in the truck and found a nice spot open on Pelican Beach. We put up our shade tent up and hit the water. The dogs played fetch with sticks forever. There was a 2 couples sitting right next to us that had rented a jet ski. And they took Zach, Casey and Collin each for a ride. Collin had the most fun I think. Once everyone got tired of throwing sticks Charlie decided he would just swim to these weeds that were not too far away. He kept swimming back and forth for an hour. Funny coming from a dog that would not fetch a stick out of the water last year.
After a couple hours, we decided it was time for lunch and a movie. All of us fell asleep in the trailer during The Bourne Ultimatum except Collin. I know we are spoiled being able to sit in air conditioning and watching a movie while camping. Later we went back to Pelican Beach to play some more.
We were going to play in the water on Sunday too. But I was pretty sunburned, well my shoulders were Lobsterish. We had so much fun that we have already planned our next trip to Willard. With Braxton's soccer season starting, we don't have the time to camp like we would like so Willard has become a perfect place to go since it is way closer than our favorite spot, Monroe. Here are some pictures from this trip.

Eaglewood and Fireworks

Every year we go up to the Eaglewood golf course to see the fireworks. Usually Ted goes up about 4 in the afternoon and waits until it is allowed to put chairs up. This year he was unable to go up. So we headed up about 5:30. All of Casey's family and some of our friends go up early every year and just play around until the fireworks. In years past I have not been too excited about seeing them. I think that this was caused by the one camping trip that there was like a 5 hours extravaganza of fireworks, probably an exageration but it went on forever. This year I was excited to see them. It still amazes me how they can get all the different colors and sometime shapes. As amazing as the fireworks were this year, they still could not compare to watching fireworks at the Wheatland Fairgrounds and listening to the local radio station play patriotic music. Happy 4th of July.

Trail riding

Last weekend we finally got our house reroofed. Thanks to Casey's buddies! I can't believe they even stayed to finish in a downpour of rain. We are so fortunate to have such good friends. This weekend I decided I wanted to go for a ride on the 4 wheelers. My brother and his wife have a membership to East Canyon and they were up there camping for the weekend. So we got up early and got our 2 4wheelers loaded up and headed up for a ride. This was the first time I was able to drive my own bike for a whole trail ride. We even took a trail that was rated at Advanced. I was only a little nervous but according to Casey I handled it like a pro. I should be able to handle any of the trails on the Paiute trail, our favorite camping spot.

Weekend project

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/Sjvk1J5y7_I/AAAAAAAAAN0/6zlUL3BL6Ac/s200/Almost+done.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349120584275128306" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-MOYWNTkG-o/SjvjLpDeqvI/AAAAAAAAANk/YbzGtbBN9Qc/s200/Setting+up+for+shingles.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349118771571108594" />
Earlier this week the forecast was for Saturday to be nice. I noticed my auto emergency kit that Glenae had given to me for Christmas 5 yrs or so ago. The garage is not the perfect place for this as we experienced a couple of weeks ago.
We have been spending a lot of time in Kaysville the last month or so. So a couple of weeks ago, we went to a friends house for a bbq. We had some Halibut from Alaska that a friend brought back with him. It was a hit. On the way home, I was smelling something weird but thought it was the leftovers I was holding. Once we hit Lagoon, there was a weird noise. Once I told Casey to listen, the tire blew. Wouldn't you know it the spare was flat as well. We had to call our friends to bring us a pump for the spare.
If we had the kit from the garage, there would have been no need for help. Lesson learned. I wonder how long it will take us to get the kit into the car.

Memorial Day 2009 Pictures

Memorial Day

Every year we try to go camping for the Memorial Day weekend. So the Thursday before at 5 AM we were on the road to our favorite camping spot. When we got to the top of the mountain, Our #1 spot was already taken. So we thought our #2 and #3 choices would be taken as well. Fortunately, both the other spots were open. Once we had camp all set up, we went fishing. While Zach and Collin fished, I read a book and Casey and Jordan threw sticks for the dogs to fetch. Once we were all tired out of fishing, we went looking for our first Geocache. We took the wrong trail and the boys and I took a horrendous hike. After giving up, we decided to hike back up the hill. A lesson was learned that day. If the internet says the geocache is easy to find, don't go hiking. It should be right there. We did find it quite easily once we took the right trail. Friday, everyone else in our party showed up. So did the rain that was forecast for the whole weekend. The men did get some clay pigeon shooting and target shooting in between down pours. Saturday started out with the rain. And everyone decided if we woke up on Sunday and it was raining, we were going to pack up and go home. Thank goodness Sunday was sunny. We got in a ride and went looking for another geocache. This one turned out to be one we had found in past years before we had a GPS. Part of the way into the ride back, I told Casey I wanted to drive the rest of the way. There was a hill that I was terrified of and I wanted to drive my 4 Wheeler up it so I could conquer that fear. This was the second such hill I conquered that weekend. Monday, my birthday, we all packed up and were on the road by 11 AM. When I had cell service, I had a nice voicemail from my mother and a text from Dad & Bet. I am so glad we were able to go camping this year over the Memorial day weekend. With Braxton starting to play soccer on the state level, I am not sure how often we will be able to do this. It is always nice to get out of our every day environment and just relax for a few days. Once I have my external hard drive back from Jordan, I will post some pictures.

Marble Camp Trip 2009 #2

For the last couple of years, my family has gone camping for the Labor Day weekend. The White family has not been able to attend until this year. Because of 3little girls that are due in August, the camping trip was changed to the first weekend in May. Brad and Ashley were able to get a reservation at East Canyon. Although, it was raining most of the time. We still were able to have some quality family time. From the kids playing on the play sets, to dad playing hopscotch, to a big game of soccer, to Eric and Nate falling in the fast moving creek going after the soccer ball, and finally one of the best moments Brad's face to face encounter with a skunk. This was a memorable weekend and hope to be able to attend next year.

Roofing the garage #2

We have this wonderful neighbor that has been reminding us that we need to reroof our garage. We priced it out this last fall and decided that we would do it ourselves. We were just waiting for the weather to clear up. Finally last Thursday, Casey decided we would do the garage on Saturday. So we got up and went over to The Home Depot and got the materials. Casey and Jordan did the sheeting on Saturday while I helped my mom. They also had a "little" help from Zach and Braxton. On Sunday while I was at church they started putting the tar paper and shingles. They got done just in time for the boys to go to their Grandmothers for dinner. I am so glad I have a husband that is very capable to do almost any repair that needs to be done. Next weekend, reroof the house. Yeah! Since the weather was so nice we also BBQ'd some of the beef we bought a month ago. WOW this was some good meat. The weather was so nice we even got to use the deck for the first time this year. We used to use the deck quite a bit when the first year we got it built. We will have to use it a lot more this summer. The boys even put up the soccer goal they got for christmas and were shooting on it for a while. This was such a fun weekend and am so ready for Spring Summer.

Soccer season

Soccer season has officially started. For the Spring season, we are playing Competition Soccer. This is in preparation of going into State soccer in the Fall. Monday was our first game and we had to go to Lehi. The first half was a little scary and we all thought "Oh Boy! This is not a good way to start." At the half we were tied 2 to 2. The second half it was as if the boys had waken up and we ended up winning 5 to 2. I am pretty excited for this season. If the rest of the season was like Monday, it will be an awesome season. We are finally getting some even matched competition. Saturdays game is at Noon in Sandy. I hope the weather is nice. GO RUSH!!!!

Easter 2009

Last Saturday we packed up the kids and went to the Marble Family Easter picnic. We went up early enough to go hide easter eggs with dad but when we got up on the hill most everyone was already there, half an hour early. After saying the pledge of Allegiance and Born Free in America, a Marble tradition at any gathering, we roasted hot dogs and sat around to talk. When all were done and playing, Dad, Eric, Nate and I went about hiding tons of easter eggs in the sagebrush. It is fun to see the next generation of kids get so excited to find them. I can remember when we were all that small and we would roll eggs down the hill behind what is now Dad's house. Then it was time for the scavenger hunt for the older kids. We all got in 3 different vehicles to see who got done first. Casey and I were in the last vehicle and Breton decided he had to stop at the gate to delay everyone, really it was to do his crossword puzzle for their first clue. After about 5 or 6 stops we finally found out goodies and went back up on the hill. We were the last ones there, thanks to someone "accidentally" taking one of our clues. I have not lived in that area for over 15 years but I was able to figure out what the 3 clue was. The boys had a lot of fun and I hope we can continue this fun tradition for a very long time.

Boise Pictures

Here are some pictures from our trip to Boise.

This one is a picture of a bird statue at a stop light. We got up early, I did my Wii Fit and got ready to go. We left about 9 or 9:15 in about 5 cars. It was a beautiful day for a drive. We got to drive by the farm and it doesn't look too bad. Drove past the spot where we had the slidding hill that one year. There were some interesting named places along the way. I wonder if people living in Bliss live a blissful life? Does Glenn's Ferry have a Ferry? Is it really Paradise in Paradise Valley? We stopped inEden to eat at the Garden of Eden. It had a waterfall and some fake birds. It even had a tree with a snake in it. The snake's eyes were a little creepy. They were glowing red. I tried to do the hay trick but Braxton did not fall for it. He has heard it one too many times, I guess. Jaron on the other hand probably was ignoring me. Braxton did tell him when she says Hay, don't say the you know what word, W-H-A-T. I even got to use dads. "It smells like money!" We are in our rooms now, all 3 of us are in different rooms. The weather isn't too bad actually. Hopefully, it does not get too cold during the game that starts at 6 tonight.

March family get together

Angela came up with the idea that we should get together to celebrate each months birthdays. This was a good idea, sorry for Krystal and Brenda not being close to participate. With 8 kids and their families there is at least one each month. This last weekend March's get together was held at Brad and Ashley's. So Casey and I left a little early to get there so we could do some geocacheing. We were able to do 5 of them. 3 of them were on property my Grandpa owns. Here are some pictures from our adventure. So for Valentines Day Casey gave me a nice little Garmin Colorado. We looked up some spots a couple of weeks ago that were close to our house and had them loaded on the GPS. So after church we were going up to Casey's parents and we decided to look for one of them that was on the way. We had seen a picture of the area it was in so we went looking. It was fun to see how accurate the GPS was to where the thing was. There is no picture here of the first one we did, it was pretty small and you could only sign a piece of paper that was rolled up in the container. The boys loved it and wanted to do more. So later in the day, Zach, Braxton and I went looking for one that was only .3 miles from the house. I had a pretty good idea of where it was, I thought. So after walking a bit we came to be across the street from it and I picked it out right away. The first 2 pictures are of this one. Then we walked in the other direction from our house to another one that was only .3 miles from it. This one took a little longer because it was hidden under the dug out bench at a park. We had a ton of fun and will be looking for more to do. I am glad the boys enjoyed it so we can plan on this activity this summer.

Colorado trip

Last weekend I had the opportunity to spend some quality time with my Brothers, one of my sisters and my mom. Krystal was in her first play, Once Upon a Matress. Anyone who knows Krystal knows that acting in a play suits her personality. I am glad I was able to go, sorry that my husband did not go though. I flew out Friday after work. As soon as I got off the plane, Jon and Nate were there waiting for me. Who could ask for a better welcoming party? Jon and I had a wonderful talk on the way to his house while Nate talked to his wife on the phone. The next morning Krystal, Nate and I got up to take a walk in the freezing cold to see the Purple Mountains Majesty. Who can't be in awe watching this beautiful sight? Thanks Krystal for making us get out of bed. A few things that could be overheard on our walk. It would be ok if I didn't have to breathe through my mouth. I am going to do an irish happy dance now. And quite a few quotes from Napolean Dynamite. Later in the day, Eric and Sara came over from their Hotel and we hung out most of the day. It was fun to see the kids interact with each other. Prior to Krystal leaving for the play, her friends had a party for her. It was fun to see the people she associates with. We don't get to see that since the rest of us live in Utah.

Later, we all went to the play. Krystal did a wonderful job and I could not tell it was her first play. But I could be biased she is my sister and all. My favorite part was the part where she had to laugh. It is so contagious that everyone in the audience was laughing as well. I am so glad that I was able to go support her. Thanks Casey for letting me go.

Talking in my sleep

Over the course of 3 and a half years, I have been asked by Casey. "What were you dreaming last night." Of course, I can't remember. So on Friday morning I get the same question. The same answer is I don't know why. You were giggling in your sleep. This brings us to about 10 minutes ago. I get this pat on my shoulder. "Are you awake?" I am why. I was talking again and didn't I hear him just whistle. I did not. Well I was talking again and this time he knew what I had said. As plain as day I was dictating an email to Katie. "And next please include enough duct tape to go along with your stuff." Don't ask me what I was dreaming about. I thought I was dreaming about Mafia Wars. After about what seemed like 5 minutes of lauging, I decided this had to be our new post. On the drive around Bothwell looking for birds my husband could hunt, I took to remembering those family members that are not around to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. From Grandma and Grandpa Cornwall, to Uncle Brian, to Emma. I am glad that as foggy as my memory is these days that I still can remember each of them at this time of year.
Later at Eric's house, I had the chance to read to my neice Savannah. Oh to have little kids around, I forget how much fun that can be. After dinner, it was fun to watch Braxton playing around with all the little girls, 5 all under the age of 6. It was also nice the see the different family members there interacting about this and that.
Since it is Thanksgiving, I would like to say that I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful for my wonderful husband that I know puts up with a lot with me. I am thankful to an old boss who without which I am sure I would not still have the job I have today. I am thankful for the opportunity for change in our lives. Without change, I would not have been able to travel the places I have been, meet some of my friends, live the life I live. I live a very priviledged life and am thankful to the Lord for it all.

Happy Thanksgiving. Last night we went to dinner with our friends Brad and Annie and then we went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I have never seen the E Center as full as it was last night. We had seats directly to the left of the stage and they were perfect. I am glad Casey talked me into those seats. This concert had it all. Great violinist, pianists, guitarists and singers. And on top of that lasers, flames, fireworks and flashing lights. I will never forget the air guitar, air violin and air piano on top of the conducting that was done by the crazy bald guy to our right. Thriller used to be our yearly thing, which can get old with all the sameness. All 4 of us have agreed this is going to become the holiday tradition. If you have a chance to go next year, I suggest you go.

July 4th camping pictures

Here was our camping spot for the 4th of July weekend. We call this spot The Corral. It has plenty of room for all the trailers, usually 4, and tents, usually 4. It also has room for the 8 4-wheelers. Then there is still room for the kids to play football, kick the can or capure the flag.

Barney Lake off the Piute Trail. Soccer kept us pretty busy. I planned on taking most of the week off for the Labor Day camping trip. Since we had a Soccer tournament instead, I still took the time off and enjoyed the time to myself. I finally used a gift certificate from the parents from almost 2 years ago and also the birthday money from them this year. Thanks Bet!
Hunting season is fast approaching and for once I am happy for it to come. Casey leaves for the big hunt next Saturday for 8 days. The freezer is getting pretty empty so this is the year he has to shoot something. While he is gone I am planning on painting more of the house. It seems like I only get motivated to paint when Casey is gone. Maybe he should be gone more often. LOL.
The boys are doing well. Jordan had an interview at Pace's on Monday and is to go back tomorrow. We are keeping our fingers crossed. He needs to have worked for a year before he can apply at the Jail to become a clerk. Zach is liking junior high and I am excited because he has Algebra and Spanish, 2 subjects I won't have problems helping him with if he has any questions. Zach is talking about trying out for the school basketball team. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Braxton is in soccer again this year and is struggling a little bit. It should get better once he gets used to playing with this new bunch of kids. I love his new coaches teaching style and Braxton should learn a lot this year.

Camping and Soccer

I know it has been a while since the last post. I can't believe how quick this summer has gone. Over the long July 4th weekend, we finally got to use the trailer. It is always fun to trade the big city for the peaceful surroundings of the mountains. Every day consisted of sleeping in, fishing, eating and riding the 4 Wheelers. I love my new 4 wheeler. I even read about 10 magazines while down there. It was pretty warm but we had fun getting down and dirty because of all the dust kicked up. We saw a few deer but not the monster elk that is rumored to be down there.
The rest of July was pretty much filled up with soccer practice. This last weekend was Braxton's first soccer tournament of the season in Park City. We won our first 2 games and lost the last 2 games. The first game was a nail biter. With seconds left in the game, we scored the only goal off a penalty kick. The last game was a little sad. We lost 3 to 2 but that was good because we were the only team to score on them up to that point in the tournament.
August is shaping up to be a busy month what with all the soccer, tons of birthdays and going to Arizona for work. Life is never dull.

Saturdays at Costco

Saturdays with the kids usually includes yard work and then Costco for groceries and lunch. When family was younger Saturday lunch was the samples at Costco or Sams Club. This is no different for the boys and us. We also supplement it with a piece of pizza, hot dog or polish dog. You can't beat lunch for 5 for under $10.00.
As a general rule, Costco on Saturday is a zoo. This last saturday was no different. It will be one to remember. Shortly after we checked out, Braxton ended up with a bloody nose which the boys blamed on an accidental elbow bump from dad. Once we were all back together, Braxton and I were waiting at the table for Casey and the other 2 to bring lunch to us. Some lady came by Braxton and clothes lined him on her way past to get her order in at the window. Braxton moved to the other side of the table and on her way back from her table to get a drink she hit him again. I sent Braxton to get napkins for all of us. And the same lady kept pushing him out of her way to get to the ketchup and mustard. Once we were about done she hit Zach in the knee on her way to get her drink refilled. Then on her way back to her table, she let a silent but deadly one fly. At no point were the boys in her way.
This incident will not deter us from going to Costco on Saturday. But it will be something we talk and laugh about every time we go for years to come.

Memorial Day weekend

Saturday evening we had all the camping friends over to watch the UFC fights. The men stayed upstairs to watch the fights while the women went downstairs to act like Sing Stars. Fun was had by all. Braxton, the boy in the middle, even had a ball trying to sing whatever songs were picked. Karyn even brought a cake for the wife for her Birthday on Sunday. It was delicious and we only had 2 pieces left once everyone left. Sunday we went to see Indiana Jones, good entertainment. Monday was relaxation day with the only strenuous activity being taking the trailer back to the parents for storage. We really should build a bigger garage so we can keep it at our house. We are blessed to have the friends we do and the means in which to go camping in style when the weather permits.

Cheese curds lottery Day

Who in their right mind would set their alarm on a day off? We the White family did just that. We had to get to Logan while the Cheese Curds were still fresh at Gossners. After sampling their different flavored milks, cheese curds and dips. We loaded up on Jerky flavored Cheese Curds and regular cheese curds. Jordan even got himself a few of the the flavored milk, rootbeer and Mango. Once you have driven that far, why not go another 20 miles to Idaho. The boys have never been to Idaho and who knows we could be the next winners of the PowerBall Lottery. That is a long shot but one can dream. By the end of the trip, the dogs were bored of being in the truck for 4 hours straight and the boys are tuckered out. We are finally home and ready for the next whim that catches our fancy.

What is wrong with these pictures?

Today we were supposed to leave for our Memorial Day camping trip to Monroe. The weather people just would not cooperate. You would think that if gas is the price of gold these days that we could at least get some decent weather for a long weekend. Oh well. We decided not to go camping. Why spend all the money on gas just to sit in the trailer all weekend long? Not worth it. So here we are playing basketball with our extra kid and throwing a stick for the dogs. Daphne had made out like a bandit today though. New haircut, new drivers license and a new pair of shoes. How does she rate? I will add more tomorrow. Since we are going for a little ride.

Clay pigeon shooting

After our ride up to the B, we met Dave at the shooting range. So we loaded up the trailer and the new wheeler and headed up to the B. After hitting about 2 patches of soft snow we decided since it was only the 2 of us that we better turn around. We stopped a couple of times on the way down to enjoy the scenery below. And the dogs even found a stick to play/fight over. Talking to a few other riders, we could have made it to the top which was just packed snow.

2008 NBA playoffs Round 1 Game 6

Row 4 tickets:  $300
parking:  $15
drinks: $7.50
Watching the game in the loudest arena in the NBA: .............

Springtime YEAH!!!

   It is springtime again.
