Snow Plowing

Here are some pictures of Casey and the dogs plowing the neighborhood. The dogs love to ride the 4 wheeler. Casey would not let me unwrap their coats since they are for Christmas. At least it was not snowing so they were not wet.

Happy Thanksgiving

Last night we had the opportunity to go up to my brothers and have dinner. On the drive around Bothwell looking for birds my husband could hunt, I took to remembering those family members that are not around to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. From Grandma and Grandpa Cornwall, to Uncle Brian, to Emma. I am glad that as foggy as my memory is these days that I still can remember each of them at this time of year.
Later at Eric's house, I had the chance to read to my neice Savannah. Oh to have little kids around, I forget how much fun that can be. After dinner, it was fun to watch Braxton playing around with all the little girls, 5 all under the age of 6. It was also nice the see the different family members there interacting about this and that.
Since it is Thanksgiving, I would like to say that I am thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful for my wonderful husband that I know puts up with a lot with me. I am thankful to an old boss who without which I am sure I would not still have the job I have today. I am thankful for the opportunity for change in our lives. Without change, I would not have been able to travel the places I have been, meet some of my friends, live the life I live. I live a very priviledged life and am thankful to the Lord for it all.

Happy Thanksgiving. Love Daphne

Trans Siberian Orchestra

All I can say is WOW! Last night we went to dinner with our friends Brad and Annie and then we went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I have never seen the E Center as full as it was last night. We had seats directly to the left of the stage and they were perfect. I am glad Casey talked me into those seats. This concert had it all. Great violinist, pianists, guitarists and singers. And on top of that lasers, flames, fireworks and flashing lights. I will never forget the air guitar, air violin and air piano on top of the conducting that was done by the crazy bald guy to our right. Thriller used to be our yearly thing, which can get old with all the sameness. All 4 of us have agreed this is going to become the holiday tradition. If you have a chance to go next year, I suggest you go.

July 4th camping pictures

Here was our camping spot for the 4th of July weekend. We call this spot The Corral. It has plenty of room for all the trailers, usually 4, and tents, usually 4. It also has room for the 8 4-wheelers. Then there is still room for the kids to play football, kick the can or capure the flag.

Barney Lake off the Piute Trail. We usually don't come to this little lake since it is so far off the usual trail we use. We caught a few but let them live another day. Casey and I came to this lake a couple of years ago and it had snow still.
1 hour into a ride on Oldroyd Trail, part of the Piute trail. Will have to make sure we are to be the 1st ones on the ride next time.

Hunting season

August ended up being a pretty busy month for us. Soccer kept us pretty busy. I planned on taking most of the week off for the Labor Day camping trip. Since we had a Soccer tournament instead, I still took the time off and enjoyed the time to myself. I finally used a gift certificate from the parents from almost 2 years ago and also the birthday money from them this year. Thanks Bet!
Hunting season is fast approaching and for once I am happy for it to come. Casey leaves for the big hunt next Saturday for 8 days. The freezer is getting pretty empty so this is the year he has to shoot something. While he is gone I am planning on painting more of the house. It seems like I only get motivated to paint when Casey is gone. Maybe he should be gone more often. LOL.
The boys are doing well. Jordan had an interview at Pace's on Monday and is to go back tomorrow. We are keeping our fingers crossed. He needs to have worked for a year before he can apply at the Jail to become a clerk. Zach is liking junior high and I am excited because he has Algebra and Spanish, 2 subjects I won't have problems helping him with if he has any questions. Zach is talking about trying out for the school basketball team. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Braxton is in soccer again this year and is struggling a little bit. It should get better once he gets used to playing with this new bunch of kids. I love his new coaches teaching style and Braxton should learn a lot this year.

Camping and Soccer

I know it has been a while since the last post. I can't believe how quick this summer has gone. Over the long July 4th weekend, we finally got to use the trailer. It is always fun to trade the big city for the peaceful surroundings of the mountains. Every day consisted of sleeping in, fishing, eating and riding the 4 Wheelers. I love my new 4 wheeler. I even read about 10 magazines while down there. It was pretty warm but we had fun getting down and dirty because of all the dust kicked up. We saw a few deer but not the monster elk that is rumored to be down there.
The rest of July was pretty much filled up with soccer practice. This last weekend was Braxton's first soccer tournament of the season in Park City. We won our first 2 games and lost the last 2 games. The first game was a nail biter. With seconds left in the game, we scored the only goal off a penalty kick. The last game was a little sad. We lost 3 to 2 but that was good because we were the only team to score on them up to that point in the tournament.
August is shaping up to be a busy month what with all the soccer, tons of birthdays and going to Arizona for work. Life is never dull.

Saturdays at Costco

Saturdays with the kids usually includes yard work and then Costco for groceries and lunch. When family was younger Saturday lunch was the samples at Costco or Sams Club. This is no different for the boys and us. We also supplement it with a piece of pizza, hot dog or polish dog. You can't beat lunch for 5 for under $10.00.
As a general rule, Costco on Saturday is a zoo. This last saturday was no different. It will be one to remember. Shortly after we checked out, Braxton ended up with a bloody nose which the boys blamed on an accidental elbow bump from dad. Once we were all back together, Braxton and I were waiting at the table for Casey and the other 2 to bring lunch to us. Some lady came by Braxton and clothes lined him on her way past to get her order in at the window. Braxton moved to the other side of the table and on her way back from her table to get a drink she hit him again. I sent Braxton to get napkins for all of us. And the same lady kept pushing him out of her way to get to the ketchup and mustard. Once we were about done she hit Zach in the knee on her way to get her drink refilled. Then on her way back to her table, she let a silent but deadly one fly. At no point were the boys in her way.
This incident will not deter us from going to Costco on Saturday. But it will be something we talk and laugh about every time we go for years to come.

Memorial Day weekend

Saturday evening we had all the camping friends over to watch the UFC fights. The men stayed upstairs to watch the fights while the women went downstairs to act like Sing Stars. Fun was had by all. Braxton, the boy in the middle, even had a ball trying to sing whatever songs were picked. Karyn even brought a cake for the wife for her Birthday on Sunday. It was delicious and we only had 2 pieces left once everyone left. Sunday we went to see Indiana Jones, good entertainment. Monday was relaxation day with the only strenuous activity being taking the trailer back to the parents for storage. We really should build a bigger garage so we can keep it at our house. We are blessed to have the friends we do and the means in which to go camping in style when the weather permits.

Cheese curds lottery Day

Who in their right mind would set their alarm on a day off? We the White family did just that. We had to get to Logan while the Cheese Curds were still fresh at Gossners. After sampling their different flavored milks, cheese curds and dips. We loaded up on Jerky flavored Cheese Curds and regular cheese curds. Jordan even got himself a few of the the flavored milk, rootbeer and Mango. Once you have driven that far, why not go another 20 miles to Idaho. The boys have never been to Idaho and who knows we could be the next winners of the PowerBall Lottery. That is a long shot but one can dream. By the end of the trip, the dogs were bored of being in the truck for 4 hours straight and the boys are tuckered out. We are finally home and ready for the next whim that catches our fancy.

What is wrong with these pictures?

Today we were supposed to leave for our Memorial Day camping trip to Monroe. The weather people just would not cooperate. You would think that if gas is the price of gold these days that we could at least get some decent weather for a long weekend. Oh well. We decided not to go camping. Why spend all the money on gas just to sit in the trailer all weekend long? Not worth it. So here we are playing basketball with our extra kid and throwing a stick for the dogs. Daphne had made out like a bandit today though. New haircut, new drivers license and a new pair of shoes. How does she rate? I will add more tomorrow. Since we are going for a little ride.

Clay pigeon shooting

After our ride up to the B, we met Dave at the shooting range. This was to try out his new X3 rifle he won at the Ducks Unlimited banquet a couple of weeks ago. As you can see, Boo was not too happy about the noise and hid under the brake pedal of the truck. Charlie was hanging out the window to see where I was and what I was doing. Boy a box of Clay pigeons go fast when you are having fun.

First ride of 2008

Last weekend was the perfect weather to go on the first 4 Wheeler ride with the wife and 2 dogs. So we loaded up the trailer and the new wheeler and headed up to the B. After hitting about 2 patches of soft snow we decided since it was only the 2 of us that we better turn around. We stopped a couple of times on the way down to enjoy the scenery below. And the dogs even found a stick to play/fight over. Talking to a few other riders, we could have made it to the top which was just packed snow.

Springtime YEAH!!!

It is springtime again. It is finally time to take the plows off the 4 wheelers. Get the trailer out of storage. And get ready for the first camping trip of the year. We are ready to leave the Telephone, TV and video games behind for a few days. Time to enjoy the great outdoors.
Even the dogs are ready to go for a ride on the 4 wheelers without the cold of winter.
